Before MISCA

Before the establishment of MISCA, there was an earlier Mission in CAR, set up in 2008 by the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), and funded by the European Union (EU). Known as the Mission of the ECCAS Peace and Security Council, or MICOPAX, it handed over its authority to MISCA on 19 December 2013.
